1. Description of Service & Indexing
Greppr operates as a web search engine and curated index. You understand and agree that the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Greppr acts strictly as an indexer of third-party content. We do not host, control, or endorse the material found in our search results.
Plain English: We are a search engine, not a hosting provider. We show you what is on the web, but we do not control those websites, and the engine is provided as-is.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service responsibly and in compliance with all applicable laws. You may not use the Service to:
- Conduct automated scraping, bulk-downloading of our index, or use bots that place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
- Distribute malicious software, viruses, or disruptive code.
- Engage in illegal, abusive, or fraudulent activities.
Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension of your access to the Service.
Plain English: Please respect our servers. Do not use scripts to scrape the search engine or use the tool to do anything illegal.
3. Content and Curation
Greppr takes no responsibility for third-party content accessed through our search results. We do not actively monitor the internet, but we heavily curate our seed index. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove, refuse to index, or permanently delist any domain or content that violates our editorial guidelines or applicable laws.
Plain English: We aren't responsible for the content of the wider internet, but we carefully curate our index and can remove sites from it whenever necessary.
4. Privacy and Anonymity
Greppr is built on the principle of a quiet, untracked web. We do not track user search queries, collect personally identifiable information (PII), or use tracking cookies. Your searches are your own.
Plain English: We don't track you. Pure and simple.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
Our Rights: Greppr retains all right, title, and interest in the Greppr search engine, its underlying software, its brand identity, and its proprietary algorithms. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from our software or branding without express written permission.
Your Rights: Greppr claims no ownership over the third-party text or intellectual property displayed in our search results. The original authors retain all rights to their respective content.
Plain English: We own the code and the Greppr brand. The authors of the indexed websites own their own writing.
6. Limitation of Liability & System Uptime
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Greppr shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenues resulting from your use of the Service. We may need to interrupt access to Greppr to perform maintenance or emergency updates. We hold no liability for any loss caused by scheduled or unscheduled downtime.
Plain English: If the site goes down, or if a search result causes an issue for you, we are not legally or financially liable.
7. Modifications
We may modify this Agreement occasionally to reflect technical changes or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Greppr following any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Plain English: If we update these rules, we'll change the date at the top. Continuing to use the search engine means you agree to the new terms.
